Just before noon a rain-wrapped tornado formed west of Appleton, Wisconsin, and moved south through Fox Crossing and Menasha before ending over Lake Winnebago. Rated EF3, it tore roofs off homes and businesses and knocked out power to about 110,000 people.
The tornado was hidden inside heavy rain, so many people never saw it coming.
It was already the fourth EF3 tornado in Wisconsin in 2026.
