A rare tornado touched down in the port city of Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu, southern India. It damaged a highway toll plaza, a theme park and parts of the airport before fading away.

Tornadoes are very unusual in southern India, so many people stopped to film it with their phones.

It was rated EF2, meaning winds of roughly 180 to 220 kilometres per hour.
