On a summer day in 1994 a giant waterspout formed over the Adriatic Sea near Zadar and moved onto land at the village of Bibinje. It tore roofs off around fifty houses, uprooted trees and cut a clear path through the pine woods.

While it was still over the sea, the whirlwind was strong enough to turn a ferry around.

No weather station recorded it, so what we know comes from photos and home videos taken by local people.
