In the afternoon a long funnel cloud dropped out of a thunderstorm in the far north-west corner of Hungary, near Mosonszolnok and Hegyeshalom. A reader photographed it, and it may have reached the ground. The funnel itself caused no reported damage, but the storm brought hail and more than 40 millimetres of rain.
