Manila tornado

A tornado formed over Manila Bay and moved right through the Philippine capital, from the Baseco area past the old walled city of Intramuros and on into Sampaloc and Quezon City. It lifted roofs, snapped trees and power poles and damaged more than a hundred houses in about fifteen minutes.

Tornadoes are called 'buhawi' or 'ipo-ipo' in Filipino.

Scientists said this one was a rare multi-vortex tornado, with several smaller funnels spinning around inside the main one.
