One evening a tornado struck Solms-Oberndorf near Wetzlar, in central Germany. It tore roofs off houses and pushed trees over, and pieces of roof flew as far as 100 metres. About 60 buildings were damaged and some families could not go home for a while. The German weather service confirmed the tornado but had not yet decided on its strength.
