One afternoon a tornado formed inside a very deep storm system that Brazilians call a bomb cyclone. It began in the countryside near Pedro Osório and then crossed the town itself for about twenty minutes. Roofs were torn off homes and warehouses, trees and power poles fell, and some walls collapsed. Meteorologists rated it F2, with winds near 200 km/h, and nobody was reported hurt.
