Kushva tornado

On a June evening a large tornado passed straight through Kushva, a mining town in the Ural Mountains of Russia. Rated IF3, it travelled about 30 km, tore the upper floors off houses, flipped buses and trucks and damaged more than 100 homes.

Good to know

Sixteen miners were trapped underground when the power failed, and all were brought out safely.

Tornadoes this strong are very rare in the Urals, and this one was filmed by many residents.
