On a July evening a tornado hit the small farming village of Varkhi in northern Belarus. It tore the roofs off 27 houses and two shops, damaged walls and snapped big trees so that they lay in every direction across the main road to Vitebsk.

Nobody was hurt, and more than 300 workers came to clear roads and fix roofs in the following days.
