At about half past five in the afternoon a tornado touched down in São José dos Pinhais near Curitiba. It travelled about a kilometre with winds of up to 180 km/h, and the Guatupê neighbourhood was hit hardest. Hundreds of homes lost their roofs, walls and trees came down, and power lines were damaged. Two people were hurt.
